Industry Practices

At MCAC, we champion industry-wide excellence by promoting best practices: proven, practical methods that help the industry deliver better results with fewer challenges.

In an ever-evolving industry, where formal guidelines do not always exist, best practices fill the gap. By improving processes, reducing risk and supporting smarter project delivery, your desired outcome can be delivered more effectively.

We know that good practices become greater over time. That is why we are committed to documenting, refining and sharing what works; so, our members and the industry can build stronger, more successful futures.

Change is a constant in construction - and when not managed properly, it can lead to cost overruns, disputes, and even litigation. That’s why industry stakeholders came together to develop the MCAC Change Order Protocol.

This publication provides a fair, consistent, and practical framework for pricing and managing change orders, helping all project parties navigate scope changes with greater clarity and fewer conflicts. Read our framework to learn how it can support better project outcomes.

CCA 1 2021 Stipulated Price Subcontract

With permission from the Canadian Construction Association, and as a founding member of the National Trade Contractors Coalition of Canada (NTCCC), MCAC is pleased to present the updated publication, A Guide to CCA-1-2021 Stipulated Price Subcontract, developed exclusively by the NTCCC. This guide is intended to highlight many of the contractual terms and conditions contained within the standard industry subcontract, explain why these clauses are important and how they may have a real impact on your business.

The guide is intended for educational purposes only and is not to be used for any other purposes. Special thanks to McMillan LLP and the Canadian Construction Association for their work on this document.
